In May, 2016, MTN, in partnership with the MTN Solution Space at the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business and Jumia held the inaugural MTN Entrepreneurship Challenge powered by Jumia in Cape Town, South Africa. We faced a panel of experienced business leaders comprising Jérémy Hodara, co-CEO Africa Internet Group, Professor Walter Baets, Director of the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business and Herman Singh, MTN Group Chief Digital Officer and pitched our digital application to combat the challenge access of medication faced in Africa.
We were represented by Hayford Brako, Victoria Acheampong and Yannick Kabu Bosomprah won the MTN Entrepreneurship Challenge for their work on Medrx app, along with US$25,000 and other benefits.
The judges concurred that MedRx app had the best online to offline capability, meaning that one can go online to get services offline. “We were really impressed with the width of their functionality and the depth of the integration of the application, handling a very complex challenge that actually delivered astonishingly great human value,” said Herman Singh, Chief Digital Officer from the MTN Group.
The Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana in June 2016 endorsed MedRxapp for our idea of trying to solve one of the biggest problems in the pharmaceutical sector in Ghana. With their vision to to be the most trusted professional group by seeking the well being of the human race through the provision of excellent pharmaceutical services at all times, they believe MedRxapp has the potential of helping them achieve that goal.

Merck, a leading science and technology company for innovative and top-quality high-tech products in healthcare, life science and performance materials held the 2nd edition of the Merck Accelerator which seeks to provide startups with the potential to reshape entire industries and make people’s lives richer and to help them provide their solution effectively. We were selected as the only African originated startup for the program in Nairobi, Kenya from September to November, 2016.
We received support through individual mentoring and coaching by experts from Merck as well as a incubation cash of $15000. In this period we took a lot of workshops and studies on various topics from Design thinking, Pitching, Accounting, Marketing and Positioning and others that will help our growth and guide us in the right direction.
